No, not for sports. Michigan's attorney general sued Kalshi on March 5, 2026, an Ingham County judge ordered Kalshi's sports contracts shut down, and Kalshi said it complied; Michigan is one of three states (with Nevada and Washington) where its sports boards are dark. Polymarket's sports markets are restricted and Novig doesn't serve Michigan at all. Everything that isn't sport still trades. Status as of October 15, 2026.

The legal picture
Michigan has a mature licensed online betting market and a regulator, the Michigan Gaming Control Board, that treats unlicensed sports wagering as a priority. The state went to its own courts and got a shutdown order quickly. Unlike Massachusetts, there's no stay: the order is in force and Kalshi geofenced. Michigan sits in the Sixth Circuit, so the federal pre-emption question for the state will be shaped by the Ohio and Tennessee appeals there, and ultimately by the Supreme Court.
What to do
- Use Kalshi or Polymarket for non-sports markets; use a licensed sportsbook (21+) for games.
- Don't VPN around the geofence; it breaks platform terms and the order.
